| CENTER OF DISTINCTION In September 2002, Kids ‘R’ Kids on Johnson Ferry was named as a Center of Distinction by Georgia’s Office of School Readiness (OSR). The Center of Distinction certificate is awarded to preschools and child care centers that voluntarily agree to meet a higher level of quality care and education for children 0-4 years old. Centers that earn this distinction are providing children with appropriate nurturing and preschool activities that stimulate healthy development and learning. As of this writing, Kids ‘R’ Kids is one of only 64 preschools and child care centers out of 2800 licensed centers in Georgia to achieve this award. Two of the most stringent evaluation instruments in the country are used to evaluate centers that voluntarily apply to be a part of the initiative. The nationally recognized rating scales are: the Infant / Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) which assesses the quality of center-based care for children up to 30 months of age; and the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale-Revised (ECERS-R) which assesses the quality of center- based care for children from 30 to 60 months of age. |
NAEYC ACCREDITATION
Association for the Education of Young Children – the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals. NAEYC created its accreditation program in 1985 to set professional standards for early childhood education and to help families identify high- quality child care and early education programs. To earn NAEYC’s accreditation, a program conducts a self-study to determine how well it meets the standards. After necessary improvements are made, the program is observed by independent, professional validators, and then reviewed by a national panel. Programs are accredited by NAEYC for a five-year period. Receiving accreditation means that our school is considered to be in the top 10% of preschools nationwide.
